Injured at work,unable to collect benefits?
After 16 years at the company,I injured my back on the job.After making an injury claim,everything seemed to be going smoothly.When workmans' compensation went to verify the social security number I had been using,they used the excuse I was not a U.S. citizen to deny me already approved benfits .I cannot believe the arrogance of those people, after all the years they let me pay and pay,now just because of a number not fitting on one line right on a piece of paper, I get cheated out of a large sum of money I know I deserve.I may never be able to return to work and might require disability payments for the rest of my life and I'm in my 40''s.The reduced weekly pay from the workmans comp would be bad enough and my girlfriend Gretchen is pregnant again,out of work for now.What should I do? my wife had an accident at work and is on sick leave . She's just found out that due to the accident she requires an operation. We've also had to pay out for treatment, an MRI scan and to see a consultant privately. Her union reps are advising that she makes an injury claim, but she doesn't know what to do any help offered. Yes she did tell her employer and it was entered (eventually) into the accident book. (None available at the time). My wife has kept in close contact with her employer but they haven't mentioned any form of compensation as they are trying to play the incident down. No training given.

Car accident - shall I let the other guy just pay for repairs?
Hi all. I was involved in a car accident yesterday and I could really use some advice. Driving on a roundabout, I was hit from behind by a white van driver (who says he mistook his accelerator for his break!). He was insistent that he 'wasn't saying that it WASN'T his fault', and I spoke to his boss on the phone (who as the business owner, is the insurance policy holder). He says the driver just admitted to him that it was his fault. I am to call him this morning and exchange insurance details, but I am pretty sure he just wants to pay for my repairs and get this settled without involving insurance companies. I know this can be risky as it is only verbal agreement. I had another accident 6 months ago and lost my no-claims bonus. Will a second accident make any difference to my premium? The car insurance is under my mother's name and she's really worried about the effect on her insurance. Can I make an injury claim without claiming for damage to the car? Thanks in advance.
