Car Accident Personal Injury Claim - Solicitors dragging their heels & Barrister involvement?
To cut a long story short, I suffered serious multiple injuries in a car accident 16 months ago & while treatment is still ongoing I do have a definite prognosis for the 'outcome' of my injuries from my consulting surgeon so there is no question over the long term effects of my injuries. However, my solicitors seem to be very reluctant to get things moving with the claim and despite continued 'pestering' from myself they still have not obtained the medical reports from my surgeon or physiotherapy department in order that they can obtain the required "Independent" medical report in order to process my claim & seem very laxed about even trying to get them. This leads me to believe that whatever the delay in their action is, it is purely for their own financial benefit & not mine and when I questioned them today I was told "it will take a long time to obtain all the medical documents" and they need to get a barrister involved. Yet when I telephoned the treating hospital today they told me copies of everything can be obtained within 30 days.Bearing in mind I have been asking them politely since November to ask for these copy reports & they are apparently 'Still sorting things out' ........... My question therefore is (A) As a client of theirs (And therefore they are working for me, not the other way round), am I entitled to demand that they move quicker to resolve the case and (B) Why does a Barrister have to be involved? The other party admitted full liability straight away so there is no question of apportioning blame - The other driver was on the wrong side of the road and hit me head on at 60m.p.h!!) and the surgeon has already given me a long term prognosis of future treatment (There is no chance of full recovery due to the severity of injury to one limb). Are my Solicitors just 'stringing me along'? **This is a U.K case
