hand surgery, should i get a lawyer?
Hey guys about a year ago i hurt my hand lifting cement bag at work.. two weeks later i couldn't move a finger in my hand. compensation sent me to their doctor and they said i had a sprain thumb which was a misdiagnose. with my hand worsening i went to my personal doctor, he sent me to an orthopedic and immediately he diagnose me with tendonitis in the wrist. after months of getting cortisone shots, the doctor recommended tendon release surgery since the symptoms are not leaving. after months of delaying surgery, i finally got it done last week. they cut the sheath to free the tendon and they also removed a cyst that i already had but the injury caused to enlarged. couple different people have come to me and recommended that i get a lawyer immediately for protection, and also to get all the benefits that i can legally get from the compensation. i live in NY, and i was told workers comp rules are different from state to state. do you guys think i should get a work injury lawyer, i also know that if i get a lawyer my employer will point the red dot on my head. thanks in advance for all the help.
